Altiplano and Lipez

Western Bolivia, along the Chilean border, is one of the most rugged places on the planet and one of the least densely populated. Resources are scarce, the altitude and climate, between salt, sand and stone deserts, lakes with undrinkable water and volcanoes, some of which are still active, make life difficult and only a few isolated communities of the Aymara people live there.
